Who is Jon Olsson?

Jon Olsson is one of the most famous freestyle skiers in the world. He has won medals from the US Freeskiing Open, the Rip Curl Tour, and the Red Bull Big Air in 2003, among other competitions. Red Bull, Douchebags, and Panasonic are some of his prominent campaigns. Jon has 1.53 million YouTube subscribers, 1 million Instagram followers, and 202K followers on Facebook.

The Freeski legend has been staging his own competitions since 2005, and he currently has double digits worth of Winter X Games medals in his collection. An annual highlight in any freeskier's calendar is the coveted Big Air tournament known as the Jon Olsson Invitational. Even Jon himself won the Invitational back in 2006.

Some of Jon's greatest successes go beyond medals and major accolades; thanks to his inventiveness, he has developed new, cutting-edge tricks like the Hexo Flip and the DJ Flip. The double flat spin 900, known as the Kangaroo Flip, maybe the feat that gave the Swedish skier his reputation for performing some seriously sick maneuvers. At the 2008 Winter X Games, he used the Kangaroo to win the Big Air competition. However, he had a knee ailment in the same year that necessitated surgery and that would later return.

Later, Jon switched to alpine skiing, and in 2010, he made his World Cup debut in Val d'Isère. After some early triumphs, he set his eyes on becoming eligible for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. But in 2013, his knee problem returned, preventing him from realizing his objective. Jon is back on the road and back on the slopes following a second round of surgery. He never has a free moment because of the Jon Olsson Invitational, his love of snow, and his passion for vehicles.

Jon took his wife's surname 'Delér' after marriage, making his name 'Jon Anders Olsson Delér'. Jon and her wife both used the combined surname Olsson Delér.

Jon Olsson’s Prominent Campaigns

RedBull

Jon Olsson for RedBull

Red Bull Energy Drink is one of Jon's most prominent campaigns and bagged first place in the Red Bull Big Air back in 2003. The World Air Sports Federation (FAI) has authorized a series of air races known as the World Championship Air Race. The competition, first held in 2003 as the Red Bull Air Race was developed by Red Bull GmbH and involved participants completing a difficult obstacle course in the shortest amount of time. Individual pilots race against the clock while making precise maneuvers through an "air gates"-style slalom course made out of pylons.

Douchebags

Jon Olsson for Douchebags

The year 2009 saw the chance meeting of Swedish freeski superstar Jon Olsson and Norwegian engineering student Truls Brataas while surfing in the Norwegian resort of Hoddevik. Action sports were dear to both of their hearts, and they both travelled. They agreed that the luggage on the market needed a lot of improvement for carrying their skis, snowboards, and surfboards. Both believed they could tackle this issue collectively.

Truls and Jon experimented a lot before creating a ski bag that was unheard of in history. It was lightweight, sturdy, collapsible, and adjustable in length. It was ideal, but they required a name. They were brainstorming one night after a few drinks when one of them suggested the moniker "Douchebags." They laughed it off and continued. But they were struggling to come up with a witty and irreverent moniker. They only had one opportunity to introduce a truly revolutionary product, therefore, it had to be something distinctive.

Then Jon Olsson understood he had something that might be of assistance to them: an audience. What should we title our new bag company? Jon posed this question to his YouTube subscribers. They got a ton of replies, but only one name kept popping up: douchebags. It was insensitive, and it stood out. They were brave because they knew they only had one chance to succeed in running this business. So, Douchebags was chosen as the moniker for Jon Olsson and Truls Brataas' new bag firm.

Panasonic GH5

Jon Olsson for Panasonic GH5

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 serves as Jon Olsson's primary camera. Comparing it to several other well-known cameras on the market, this one is a little different. It is a micro four-thirds camera instead of a standard DSLR or mirrorless model.

A mirrorless camera standard developed by Panasonic and Olympus is known as micro four-thirds. These cameras can give comparable performance while being lighter than full-frame DLSRs.

Additionally, they have their own lens mount, and numerous outside firms make compatible lenses. The GH5 is off to a strong start as a vlogging camera because of its smaller size and less weight when compared to a full-frame DSLR.

Given that the model has in-body stabilization and 4K 60fps video quality, it is obvious that the model was created with video recording in mind. Not that the GH5 is just aimed at video enthusiasts. Due to the 20.3 megapixel resolution of the sensor, it is still great for taking pictures.
