Who is Yogscast?
Bristol-based British entertainment company The Yogscast produces gaming-related content on its YouTube and Twitch channels, on top of operating its multi-channel network for affiliate creators. The Yogscast started as a group of online content creators in 2008 and transitioned into a full-blown company in 2011.
The group initially started creating content for the World of Warcraft online game and rose to significant popularity with their Minecraft playthrough and their self-produced Minecraft role-playing game Shadow of Israphel.
In 2017, the company established Yogscast Gaming, their video game publishing label responsible for publishing multiple games, including Brunch Club, Trolley Problem Inc., and Caveblazers. They are also prominent for Jingle Jam, their annual Christmas live-stream charity. As of December 2022, Jingle Jam raised £22 for different charities and foundations.
Lewis Brindley, a.k.a. Xephos, and Simon Lane, a.k.a Honeydew, founded the group in July 2008 under the BlueXephos YouTube channel. Lewis and Simon started their journey by uploading YouTube World of Warcraft video guides and recording iTunes podcasts in their own homes. The channel's name, Yogscast, is taken from the first letters of their World of Warcraft guild, Ye Olde Goone Squad.
In 2010, Lewis and Simon joined TheGameStation, a Maker Studios sub-network. At the end of 2010, the two started their Shadow of Israphel Minecraft video series, catapulting them to online stardom. Then, in May 2011, they officially incorporated the group as a registered company.
The company now has 7.09M subscribers on YouTube, 944K followers on Twitch, 575K on Twitter, 355K on Facebook, and 117K on Instagram.
