North Carolina Tar Heels football coach Bill Belichick offered a rare glimpse into his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson during a recent interview — but Hudson made it clear that some topics were off-limits.
During a sit-down with Tony Dokoupil for “CBS News Sunday Morning,” Belichick briefly spoke about Hudson, calling her a “constant presence” in his life. However, when Dokoupil tried to dig deeper and asked how the couple first met, Hudson, seated nearby, quickly intervened.
“We’re not talking about this,” she said firmly, putting an immediate stop to the line of questioning.
Belichick, who took over as head coach for the Tar Heels after a historic run with the New England Patriots, didn’t seem fazed. When asked how he handled public scrutiny about his relationship with Hudson, the 73-year-old responded with his trademark coolness.
“Never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” Belichick said. “Just try to do what feels right for me.”
Belichick has previously described Hudson as his “creative muse” in his recently released book, emphasizing the role she plays not just in his personal life but also in his professional world. Reports indicate that Hudson is involved with the Tar Heels program to a certain extent, with Belichick even requesting that she be copied on team emails.
Their relationship first made headlines last year, although their initial meeting dates back to 2021 during a flight to Boston, where they reportedly hit it off. Since then, the bond between Belichick and Hudson has continued to grow, and according to Page Six, the couple has even discussed the possibility of marriage.
Hudson has been a frequent presence at Belichick’s side at various public events. She was spotted at the Loudermilk Center for Excellence in December 2024 and even playfully teased Belichick about his wardrobe choices during an NHL playoff game, adding a light-hearted public glimpse into their relationship.
However, not all of the attention has been positive. The significant age gap between Belichick and Hudson has sparked controversy, particularly after internal UNC emails surfaced. The emails, obtained by The Athletic, revealed concerns about online commentary targeting Belichick.
In one message reportedly sent by Hudson in February, she asked whether anyone was monitoring the UNC Football social media pages to remove or block slanderous remarks. “Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it / blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?” she asked.
Belichick himself followed up the next day, expressing frustration: “I cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator.’”
In response, Robbi Pickeral Evans, UNC’s senior associate athletic director for external affairs and strategic communications, assured them that the university’s social media team actively monitors and hides comments related to personal matters and firmly stated that UNC would “never” endorse such commentary.
Despite the online noise and media scrutiny, Belichick and Hudson appear unfazed. They recently attended the NFL Honors event together, walking the red carpet before Super Bowl LIX. Their public appearances suggest that the couple remains committed to each other, regardless of the attention their relationship receives.
As Belichick embarks on a new chapter with UNC football, it seems clear that Hudson will continue to be a significant part of his life both on and off the field. But when it comes to personal details, they’re keeping certain things firmly behind closed doors — just the way they want it.
