Turner Tunney, who goes by Tfue online, is a YouTube gaming influencer and eSports player best known for his Fortnite gameplays.
Tenney initially streamed Call of Duty, H1Z1, and Destiny but shifted to Fortnite Battle Royale as it gained more popularity than the other games. Then, he joined the professional eSports group FaZe Clan.
However, the influencer filed a lawsuit against FaZe Clan in May 2019, claiming the group pressured him to engage in illicit acts like underage drinking, dangerous stunts, and illegal gambling, as well as coercing him to live in one of the group’s homes in Los Angeles. On top of that, Tunney claimed he only received 20% of revenue from branded videos published on social media and Twitch and only half from his appearances and tours.
FaZe Clan denied the allegations on Twitter, saying they did not take his social media, Twitch, and tournament earnings. They also claimed to take only $60,000 from the branded videos and offered to improve Tunney’s contracts many times, only to get rejected or ignored by the influencer.
Then, in 2019, FaZe Clan filed a federal lawsuit against the influencer, claiming the latter violated his contract by trying to form his rival eSports group and leaking confidential information regarding his contract to media publications.
From getting banned from Twitch multiple times to the legal feud with his eSports group, Tunney went through a whirlwind of issues. So, in June 2023, after his two-month social media hiatus, Tfue announced his retirement on the YouTube video “Goodbye…”.
Nonetheless, Tfue amassed 11.7 million subscribers on YouTube, 5.3 million followers on TikTok, 4.3 million on Instagram, 4.1 million on Twitter, and 312K on Facebook.
