Kayla Malec, a popular TikTok content creator, has shared a powerful update on her long-running legal battle with ex-boyfriend Evan Johnson, saying she has officially won her domestic violence case. The news came in a heartfelt TikTok video posted on May 7, where Malec stood outside the Sumner County Courthouse in Tennessee and announced, “Justice was served.” She revealed that Johnson was taken into custody immediately after the hearing and is now in jail.

The arrest marks a significant moment in a case that first gained attention in April, when Malec bravely came forward with allegations of physical and verbal abuse during her nine-month relationship with Johnson. Using both TikTok and YouTube, Malec opened up about her trauma in a series of emotional videos, calling the experience “one of the hardest things” she’s ever had to speak about publicly.

Johnson initially responded with a since-deleted video in which he admitted to some “wrongdoing,” but pushed back on Malec’s claims, saying they were exaggerated. On April 7, he was arrested on charges of alleged domestic assault and a probation violation, then released on a $30,000 bond. His court appearance on April 22 was closely followed by supporters of both parties, but it wasn’t until May 7 that Malec claimed victory—and that Johnson was once again taken into custody.

Although the Sumner County Courthouse has not yet posted the official verdict or provided sentencing information, Malec’s announcement has gone viral. The TikTok clip has racked up hundreds of thousands of views, with fans flooding the comments to share their support. Among them was singer and fellow content creator Jacob Sartorius, who wrote, “KAYLA YOU DID IT!!!!!!!!! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU.” Another follower commented, “All of the girls who never got justice… are sobbing while we clap so loudly for you.”

The overwhelming response speaks to a broader moment of solidarity and empowerment on social media, where more survivors are sharing their stories and receiving real-time support from their communities. Malec has become a voice for many who feel their experiences have been minimized or ignored. Her followers describe her as “brave,” “strong,” and “an inspiration,” with many thanking her for speaking out about an issue that remains painfully common yet often silenced.

Her Campus reached out to Johnson’s legal team as well as Sumner County court officials for comment or confirmation of the verdict, but has not yet received a response.

As Malec continues to share updates and express her relief, she has also hinted at plans to use her platform to advocate for other survivors of domestic violence. “This isn’t just my story anymore,” she said in a follow-up post. “It’s a story that belongs to everyone who has ever been scared to speak up—and I’m not done fighting.”

For now, the arrest of Evan Johnson has brought a moment of closure for Malec, and her online celebration is being widely viewed as a victory for survivors everywhere.
