The 2022 VMA date also marks her favorite number 13 years since the infamous Kanye moment.
Even as Nicki Minaj was co-hosting the event, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard honoree was also twerking and dancing her way backstage. She did not appear until 55 minutes in. Her co-host Jack Harlow opened the show taking flight with a glamorous surprise. Jack won four awards that night and hugged Fergie and gave her a shout-out for coming out and smashing the song with him.
Johnny’s Surprise
Virtual Johnny Depp also appeared with several brief cameos. Goofing around less than three months after winning a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Meanwhile, Global Icon Award recipients The Red Hot Chili Peppers dedicated their award to friend and late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins saying, “I miss him every day and uh, fly on, hawk, fly on brother.”
